The Ames Woodworkers Club, based in Ames, Iowa meets at various places in Ames and in other locations in Central Iowa to share information and tips about various woodworking related topics. Membership in the Ames Woodworking Club is open to anyone interested in woodworking, arts and crafts involving wood, and related activities. In addition to attending meetings and receiving the monthly newsletter, dues paying members are also entitled to discounts at various area businesses. Members of the AWC who have paid their annual dues receive a membership card which can be presented to participating woodworking businesses when purchasing tools and supplies to receive a club discount on the items.
Unless otherwise announced, meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month. Annual dues for 2012 are $10 for electronic delivery or $15 for postal delivery. *NEWS* O’Donnell Ace Hardware on 24th Street in Ames has agreed to give AWC members a 10% discount on anything in the store. You must present a current AWC membership card to be granted the discount. |

The May meeting of the Ames Woodworkers Club a tour Robbie Pederson’s R.V.P. 1875 in Jefferson, IA on Saturday May 19. Gathering will be at 9:30 with the meeting and tour beginning at 10:00. Please note the date and time change. Directions are in the newsletter.
The AWC turning subgroup will meet Sunday May 20 at Karl Rinehart’s shop from 1:00 to 4:00. The topic of the meeting will be the second of two meetings on surface embellishments, this time “off the lathe”. Contact Rob Wallace at rwallace@iastate.edu for details.
The AWC cabinet and furniture making subgroup will meet at Tom Oxley’s shop at 4015 Phoenix st. in Ames on May 22, 2012 at 6:30. The topic will be dimensioning rough lumber. Contact Will Zitterich at wzitterich@mchsi.com for information.
