The Ames Woodworkers Club, based in Ames, Iowa meets at various places in Ames and in other locations in Central Iowa to share information and tips about various woodworking related topics. Membership in the Ames Woodworking Club is open to anyone interested in woodworking, arts and crafts involving wood, and related activities. In addition to attending meetings and receiving the monthly newsletter, dues paying members are also entitled to discounts at various area businesses. Members of the AWC who have paid their annual dues receive a membership card which can be presented to participating woodworking businesses when purchasing tools and supplies to receive a club discount on the items.
Unless otherwise announced, meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month. Annual dues for 2012 are $10 for electronic delivery or $15 for postal delivery. *NEWS* O’Donnell Ace Hardware on 24th Street in Ames has agreed to give AWC members a 10% discount on anything in the store. You must present a current AWC membership card to be granted the discount. |

The January program of the Ames Woodworkers Club will be construction of small boxes of all types followed by a demonstration of flocking techniques for the interior of these boxes. The meeting will be held at the EHSSB building on the ISU campus beginning with a 6:30 gathering, 7:00 meeting.
The AWC turning subgroup will meet Sunday January 22 at a shop to be determined 1:00 to 4:00. The meeting will be the first of two meetings focusing on hollowing tools and techniques. Gallon containers of anchorseal will be available for $10. Contact Rob Wallace at rwallace@iastate.edu for details.
The AWC cabinet and furniture making subgroup will meet at Rob Baker’s shop on January 24, 2012 at 6:30. The topic will be installing cabinets and counter tops for shops and kitchens. Contact Will Zitterich at wzitterich@mchsi.com for information.
